NASCAR Fandom Left Praying for Chase Elliott to Leave Rick Hendrick After Cheeky Kyle Larson Fueled the Fire

Is the Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott partnership coming to an end? Nope! The dynamic duo has worked together at Hendrick Motorsports for the past four years.

Notably, they both found varying degrees of success within the organization during this time. So what’s all the fuss about? The backstory: This mess started with the interference of a third party, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell.

The No. 20 driver accidentally pulled a Tom Holland during the pre-race press conference. In Bell’s case, he mistakenly mentioned that “Chase” would be joining the team.

This came following the news that Martin Truex Jr. was ending his 20-year career in the Cup Series. Whoever this “Chase” is, he will replace the veteran in driving the No. 19 Toyota.

Trying to make light of Christopher Bell’s gaffe, Kyle Larson wrote to X, “I wish @chaseelliott the best of luck in his new adventure with @JoeGibbsRacing.” It was fun having you as a teammate! Good luck, #d19” There are currently two Chases in the NASCAR Cup Series: Chase Elliott and Chase Briscoe.

Though conventional wisdom and logic would suggest Briscoe was being serious, Kyle Larson’s playful comments may have sparked an entire movement on the internet.

Of course, the majority of fans got the joke and joined in the fun. But amid the fun and the competition, some fans were gullible or seriously considering that Chase Elliott might be stepping down.

Fans discuss the off chance of Chase Elliott switching allegiances

Some fans caused confusion and wanted to see the “most popular driver” and the “most notorious driver” as teammates. A reply on the same Reddit thread read: “But please, please, let me watch the new redneck Jesus’ head explode when he teams up with the con man Yoder family to be teammates with Satan himself, Denny Hamlin.” The driver of the No. 11 Toyota and Elliott would be on the same team, an unforgettable sight considering their history.

Another user saw common sense and recognized it as a joke, but couldn’t help but be surprised. He said, “I know he’s joking, but it would be funny if Chase Elliott was Chase showing up on the 19th.”

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if history had been different? One NASCAR fan said, “Of all the alternate timelines I want to see, this is definitely in the top five.” NASCAR is known for its interesting “what if” questions, such as “What if Kyle Busch had stayed at Hendrick Motorsports?” Someone else almost fell for it, but confessed that the 2024 season was already the craziest one.

He said, “Damn, I thought so for a second. Of course, given the craziness of the season so far, it’s possible that Hendrick coaches would pull a sideline player, but he acknowledged that money could be a reason to pull him away.” A good example of this is Jimmie Johnson, who stayed loyal to Chevrolet until he ran a team, and Toyota’s deep pockets are just too lucrative. Another person echoed this sentiment, stating, “I mean, if Chase Elliott decided to lose MPD for more money, I’d probably accept it.” Another person sympathized with Chase Briscoe, and maybe the intended “Chase” was confused.

He wrote, “Imagine Chase Briscoe finding out like this.” However, someone asked the pertinent question: “Is Chase Elliott out of Hendrick yet? It’s a fair question, considering Elliott already had a good stay with the Hendrick team, where he won a NASCAR championship.” The wheels are already in motion after Christopher Bell’s spoiler settled one of the hottest debates of this stupid era.
