As the NASCAR season gets more and more exciting, all eyes are on Hendrick Motorsports. Among the team’s outstanding drivers, Chase Elliott has attracted attention not only for his victory at Texas but also for his consistent performance throughout the season. As the battle for the regular season championship gets even more exciting, the big question is whether Elliott’s consistent performance can fend off the tough competition from his teammate.
Chase Elliott’s approach was not to see the checkered flag before anyone else, but to keep competing every week. This strategy worked, and Kyle Dalton believes Elliott’s path to the top will never be easy, and he discussed the team’s performance on his YouTube channel, “Beating and Banging.”
Where does Chase Elliott stand compared to his teammates?
Despite only one win at Texas, the No. 9 team has been able to stay at the top of the competition thanks to Chase Elliott’s ability to avoid major setbacks. As Kyle Dalton explained, Elliott’s average finishing position of 10.5 points makes him a strong contender for the NASCAR regular season playoffs.
This gives Hendrick Motorsports another ray of hope by not having to rely solely on current Cup Series leader Kyle Larson. That consistency has made him the most reliable driver at Hendrick Motorsports this year, and perhaps the entire garage. But for teammates William Byron and Kyle Larson, it’s been something of a rollercoaster.
Byron’s season has had some dramatic twists and turns, including five finishes no lower than 26th, but also some highlights, including a win at Indianapolis. Larson, the 2021 champion, had a somewhat unpredictable season. He has had four recent wins at the Brickyard, but also some less notable results, such as 32nd at Atlanta and 34th at Darlington.
Her “do or die” strategy resulted in a lower average finish compared to Elliott, but her high-scoring wins kept her in the race. Chase Elliott is one of the most consistent drivers in the Cup Series, but he didn’t need to become an Xfinity Series regular to win. Let’s take a look at how Elliott’s performance not only proves he’s a Cup Series front-runner, but also shows that he hasn’t forgotten his roots.
Chase Elliott bags a win in his only Xfinity Series race this season
Chase Elliott has been known for his consistency in the Cup Series this year, but he has also shown that he can dominate in Xfinity when he feels like it. He has only competed in five Xfinity events in the past five years, and even though this was his only race at Charlotte this season, he managed to take home the trophy.
Justin Allgaier started well, winning the first two stages, but crashed into the wall with 25 laps to go and his chances disappeared. Meanwhile, Sam Mayer held the lead until Cole Custer and Austin Hill’s accidents shook things up. With the field in disarray and the restart giving him a new opportunity, Elliott made the most of it, pulling away and securing the win.
This proves that Chase Elliott is one of the most talented drivers who can still show dominance even when changing series.
