Sprint racing ace McKenna Haase was involved in a freak accident during the Knoxville Nationals weekend on Friday, August 9 at the FVP Hard Knox party. Haase did, but according to an update from his mother, he is still in pain.

The best sprint car drivers gathered for the Knoxville Nationals this weekend in Iowa. Haase, a Des Moines native and two-time Knoxville 360 Sprint Car winner, was in the middle of the action until an incident during Friday’s qualifying derailed his weekend. On the first lap of Heat 1, Haase crashed violently into the wall in Turn 2 after hitting Terry McCarl, prompting the red flag. Dear no. 55. Haase’s car hit the right rear wheel of car no. 24. McCarl hit the wall.

McKenna Haase’s mother gives an update on her health after a terrible accident

Kelly Ann Haase, mother of 27-year-old McKenna Haase, gave an update on her daughter’s health after the horrific accident at the Knoxville Nationals. According to Ann Haase’s Facebook post, McKenna is still in a lot of pain. The 27-year-old woman suffered chest pains, pneumothorax (collapsed lungs), pain and cuts in her mouth and tongue.

Ann Haase also said that her daughter had to be transported to the trauma center in Des Moines, but because the two centers in the city were full, she continued to be monitored at the hospital in Knoxville. He added that the runner’s vital signs are currently stable. “Thank you to everyone who has contacted us. All your prayers are greatly appreciated. McKenna is in a lot of pain right now. She has chest pains, pneumothorax in her lungs, torn mouth and tongue, neck and body very sick. She was supposed to be transferred to Des Moines, but both trauma centers (Mercy and Methodist) are full. Knoxville Hospital is keeping him in place and continuing to monitor the pneumothorax with X-rays and a CT scan. We pray they don’t need a chest tube. He is currently stable. Mckenna Haase also lost her phone at Knoxville Raceway on Friday night. Prayers for his speedy recovery were poured out by the motoring community following the accident.
