WATCH: Chase Elliott expose his harsh criticism of Texas Motor Speedway after recent triumph

Before last Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway, 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott had his eye on racing at the track since its redesign a few years ago. However, after winning at TMS, the No. 9 Chevrolet racer withdrew his criticism of the course, claiming it was better than before.

Chase Elliott was angered by the 2017 reconfiguration of TMS and opposed the track being on the NASCAR calendar any longer. Even his teammate Kyle Larson was in favor of demolishing the track. But that quickly changed last Sunday, when the former Cup winner ended his thirst for victory on a circuit that had been the envy of him for much of his career.

Elliott claimed the race to be better than its prequels. Furthermore, he stated that the race was fun due to the low tire degradation which allowed drivers to race each other with little to no penalties. However, the 28-year-old’s praise for the track was attributed to the low tire wear and not the track’s configuration, and he continued his stance against the track.

Alan Gustafson is proud of Chase Elliott

Elliott was known for his consistency with his 2020 Cup Series championship win. But that momentum quickly waned when the 28-year-old suffered a leg injury and subsequently faced suspension, and his series winning streak was extended. After that, the Hendrick Motorsports driver needed time to get up to speed, and his winning streak at TMS came to an end. Later, when he won the race, fans and crew members celebrated the result. In particular, Elliott Crew Chief Alan Gustafson said he was proud of the drivers who helped end the long waits. The crew chief was pleased with Elliott’s performance and emphasized his ability to not give up. This added momentum to the No. 9 garage, which will be the favorite to win at Talladega.
