McKenna Haase’s mother provides an update on her daughter’s condition following a terrifying crash at Knoxville Raceway

McKenna Haase, a 27-year-old racing driver, was involved in a serious accident at Knoxville Raceway on Friday, August 9th. His car flipped in the first lap and he was injured. His mother, Kelly Ann Haase, recently gave an update on his health.

McKenna Haase had a violent accident during the FVP Hard Knox party on August 9th. The Iowa resident, who was supposed to be transferred to a hospital in Des Moines, is currently in a hospital in Knoxville. Both trauma centers in Des Moines were full. Doctors are monitoring her closely to make sure she doesn’t need a chest tube. She suffers from chest pain, a lung problem, neck and cuts on the mouth and tongue.

Writing about the incident on social media, McKenna’s mother gave an update on her daughter’s condition and thanked everyone for their prayers and support. She said McKenna was in a lot of pain but was stable. “McKenna is in a lot of pain right now. She has chest pains, pneumothorax in her lungs, torn mouth and tongue, neck and body a lot of pain. She should have been transferred to Des Moines, but both trauma centers (Mercy and Methodist) are full” , wrote Kelly Ann Haase.

“Knoxville Hospital is keeping him there and continuing to monitor the pneumothorax with X-rays and a CT scan. We’re praying they don’t need a chest tube inserted. “He is currently in a stable condition. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers – we really appreciate it,” he added.

McKenna Haase accident details

FVP Hard Knox Night is an exciting Sprint Car event where drivers who did not qualify for the main races get another chance. However, McKenna Haase had a freak accident when his sprint car no. 55 hit Terry McCarle’s car and crashed into the wall. The car landed hard on its roof after hitting first the wall and then the track. Fortunately, the car’s rugged design and safety features protected it from more serious injuries.

McKenna Haase is a race car driver from Des Moines, Iowa. He started his own racing team at the age of 13 and started racing outlaw karts in 2010. He currently lives in Indianapolis and races 410 sprint cars around the Midwest. McKenna began racing sprint cars at Knoxville Raceway at age 17. During her second season, she became the first woman (in 114 years) to win a sprint car race at Knoxville Raceway. The racing community is supporting her as she recovers from this accident.
