Martin Truex Jr Set to Drop Retirement Bomb With Tony Stewart’s Ace as Frontrunner for Succession

All the rumors and speculations about Martin Truex Jr.’s future and retirement plans have finally come to fruition.

According to a report by Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, the JGR driver is set to announce his retirement from the NASCAR Cup Series in Iowa.

Truex Jr. had been thinking about the decision to quit racing for a long time, but was unsure of his decision.

Jeff Gluck shared an update on MTJ’s future plans through his X account. “News on @Jordan_Bianchi: Martin Truex Jr. is expected to announce his retirement after the season ends, with the announcement expected to come as early as tomorrow, but his departure from JGR leaves the door wide open for a new driver.

” To take over the role, one of Stewart-Haas Racing’s drivers appears to have secured a position for 2025.

The report shared by Gluck even stated that SHR’s Chase Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 car.

This solves part of the mystery of where SHR drivers will go after Tony Stewart and Gene Haas decided to retire from NASCAR racing.

It was initially reported that a younger talent like Corey Heim could take over after MTJ’s departure.

However, it seems JGR is banking on the experience of Briscoe, who has competed in 124 races and won one Cup race.

This move is sure to have a domino effect on NASCAR’s season.

Following Friday’s official announcement that Truex Jr. is retiring, more rumors and news are expected to surface surrounding the driver’s future.
