Kevin Harvick Partners with Tim Tebow in Charlotte Checkers Ownership Group

Kevin Harvick’s business ventures keep expanding, with his latest involvement in the ownership of the Charlotte Checkers. How did this NASCAR champion become part of Charlotte’s AHL team?

Today, the Charlotte Checkers announced that Zawyer Sports and Entertainment has acquired a controlling interest in the team. Michael Kahn, the team’s CEO and majority owner since 2006, will now be the largest minority owner.

Harvick is a partner in Zawyer Sports and Entertainment, alongside CEO Andy Kaufmann and other notable partners like Tim Tebow, Myles Jack, JJ Jansen, and NASCAR analyst Regan Smith. This group now holds a controlling stake in the Charlotte Checkers, and Harvick is excited to be involved with a local team.

Beyond driving, Harvick is co-owner of the CARS Tour, involved with various teams managed by Zawyer, and runs his own sports management group representing NASCAR drivers, UFC fighters, and other athletes.

Harvick’s activities extend far beyond racing and podcasting. This new investment in the Checkers is another significant move. Fans of the Charlotte Checkers and the Florida Panthers need not worry—nothing will change with the team’s affiliation or operations at Bojangles Coliseum.

Paul Krepelka, Florida Panthers’ Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations, praised the partnership with the Checkers and welcomed Zawyer Sports to Charlotte, highlighting their track record and commitment to the franchise.

Harvick continues to build an impressive post-racing career. Although he hasn’t been retired for long, he’s already making significant business moves. The Charlotte Checkers now have new owners, led by Harvick and his investment group.
