Hendrick Motorsports could replace Kyle Larson for NASCAR All-Star Race in 2024

Kyle Larson will attempt “The Double” of the Coca-Cola 600 and Indianapolis 500 on May 26th. But Larson’s time in Indianapolis doesn’t start this week. Hendrick Motorsports drivers will be in Indianapolis for qualifying during the NASCAR All-Star Race weekend. Larson is expected to participate in this event, but a transfer is not out of the question. According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pokras, a decision on game day is “not out of the question” since Larson will be eligible for the All-Star race.

In this scenario, reserve riders may need to pass the Open to qualify for the main event. Depending on Larson’s schedule, qualifying for the Indianapolis 500 will be a top priority. With the NASCAR Xfinity Series canceled this weekend, the smart driver would be Justin Allgaier.

Allgaier previously served as reserve driver for Hendrick Motorsports, replacing Jimmie Johnson at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2020. We hope Larson can make it to North Wilkesboro Speedway, but a backup driver is an option if needed.
