“He is plagued with bad luck; don’t get around that guy” – Kevin Harvick’s blunt take on Kyle Busch’s RCR struggles in 2024

Kevin Harvick recently shared his thoughts on Kyle Busch’s tough season and attributed it to pure bad luck. In the latest episode of “Harvick’s Happy Hour,” Harvick called Busch the unluckiest driver in NASCAR right now. He also warned other drivers to stay out of Busch’s way on the track to avoid trouble. Kyle Busch is having one of the toughest seasons of his 21-year NASCAR Cup career. He has won 63 of 696 races, but is yet to win in 2024. This season, Busch has only two top-five finishes and three top-10s in 19 starts and is currently sitting 17th with 395 points. That puts him 296 points behind leader Kyle Larson and 26 points away from finishing inside the top 16.

Kevin Harvick recently spoke about Kyle Busch’s losing streak this season. Harvick said on the podcast “Harvick’s Happy Hour”:

“He has the worst luck of any driver on the circuit right now. This is bad. Don’t drive near Kyle Busch right now. If you want bad luck, don’t drive near this guy, because he’s got bad luck. ”

Kevin Harvick also mentioned a recent incident to back up his claim. During the third restart of the Nashville race, Kyle Larson ran out of gas and caused a chain reaction that forced Busch to run into the fence. Harvick thought about the situation and realized that Kyle Busch did everything right. He had track position and still crashed into the fence. There was nothing he could do about it. He exclaimed: ”They didn’t do anything wrong, so at this point I don’t even know how to fix it. He didn’t do anything wrong in the game.”

Kevin Harvick has raised concerns about internal issues at Kyle Busch’s RCR team

Following Andy Petree’s sudden resignation last week, Harvick speculated on his podcast that the departure indicated deeper performance issues within the team. He commented:“With everything that’s going on with Andy, you know, retirement or disqualification or whatever the scenario is, they obviously feel like they need to make their race cars faster. […] There are certainly some things they want to address internally with the actions they take, and it seemed like Andy Petrie was the first.

Kyle Busch also spoke out about Petree’s departure, suggesting that such changes could open the door for improvement: “Change sometimes lends itself to an open opportunity, hopefully for the better.”As the NASCAR circuit heads into the Chicago Street Race, all eyes will be on Busch, who finished fifth last year after starting 18th. With Shane van Gisbergen the man to beat, it will be interesting to see if Kyle Busch can move up the field and secure a spot in the playoffs.
