“Haven’t had a drop to drink in almost 6 months” – Kyle Larson’s birthday tribute prompts wife Katelyn’s playful sobriety comment

Kyle Larson is savoring some downtime with his wife, Katelyn, after his big win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The couple is enjoying NASCAR’s two-week break, which coincided with Katelyn’s 29th birthday.

Larson clinched his first Brickyard 400 victory, celebrating by kissing the iconic bricks alongside Katelyn and his #5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy team. True to her style, Katelyn marked the occasion by shotgunning a beer on the yard of bricks. A week later, Larson shared a birthday tribute on Instagram for his wife. The post featured a picture of Katelyn holding a wine glass and a snapshot of her beer-shotgunning celebration, captioned: “Happy 29th Birthday! @mrs_katelynlarson.”

Katelyn humorously responded to the post, pointing out that it made her look like an alcoholic despite being sober for six months. She commented, “Haven’t had a drop to drink in almost 6 months.

Now according to my 29th birthday post, I’m an alcoholic. Life is good. Thank you for the birthday wishes.”

NASCAR’s two-week break is giving drivers and their families a much-needed rest. Katelyn shared a playful vacation snap, noting that she wasn’t at a dirt track, captioned, “Off weekend number 1 *not at a dirt track.”

Kyle Larson, currently leading the driver’s standings with the most wins this season, is taking a well-deserved break. However, his kids missed out on celebrating his Brickyard victory in person. Instead, Larson celebrated with them virtually via FaceTime. He expressed his hope to win again at the famed track with his children present.

Reflecting on the moment, Larson said, “That’s the first time I’ve gotten to FaceTime my kids after a win. I wish they were here today. If I’d known I was going to win, I would have told them to come over from Eldora.” He added, “It was special to FaceTime them in Victory Lane. Katelyn even had them on FaceTime while we kissed the bricks. Hopefully, I’ll get to win here again and have them with me. That would be awesome.”

Kyle Larson will be back in action after the break, with NASCAR returning to Richmond Raceway on August 11.
