Various other fan reactions to the Busch-Larson clash include:

One fan said, “The best drivers in the world can’t run side by side, wow,” referencing Michael McDowell’s previous comments about Kyle Larson. Another fan wrote, “You can’t say it’s Larson’s fault, nothing else.” “KB, your turn has come,” one fan said, “Either you quit RCR and don’t care anymore or just retire,” adding, “KB is pissed that he’s gone now.” After Sunday’s race, Kyle Busch sits 17th in the Cup Series points standings with 348 points, while Kyle Larson has moved up one spot to second with 513 points.

Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch comment on the accident Larson initially felt like he had a flat tire, which caused his car to shake. Still, he said he had barely touched Busch’s car before then. Larson added that Busch may have been “pissed” that Larson had passed him from the side, and retaliated by ramming into his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. “Yeah, we were getting to the end of that stage,” the 2021 Cup Series champion recalled. “I think that’s what pissed him off and made him shove into me.” “My tire spun backwards, so when I cornered I thought maybe I had a flat tire, but I guess it just deflated and spun,” he explained. But Kyle Busch had a totally different perspective on the incident. The two-time Cup Series champion made it clear to On3 who he thinks is to blame:

“You’ve got a really good eye… I guess it’s my fault. I hate that my boys are all in Rebel Camaros. I can’t afford to have these days.

So I hate that they were trying to compete for a playoff spot and started to fall behind a little bit and then, yeah, he came out and wiped us out.”

Busch is the defending champion at Gateway and extended his winless streak to 36 races with Sunday’s race, while Kyle Larson recorded his seventh top-10 finish.

The 31-year-old has two race wins so far in 2024, with victories in Las Vegas and Kansas.
