Corey LaJoie linked to two NASCAR Cup Series organizations for 2025

As teams prepare their driver lineups for the 2025 NASCAR season, Corey LaJoie is looking for a new home. Spire Motorsports previously announced that LaJoie will not return to the No. 7 Cup car in 2025, even though he is under contract for next season. So which NASCAR team could sign the 32-year-old driver?

There’s been no big movement at this point, but two teams have been mentioned. FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass mentioned Kaulig Racing and Rick Ware Racing when discussing teams that could consider signing LaJoie. Both NASCAR Cup Series organizations have two charters with full-time drivers, so LaJoie could join the other entry part-time or full-time. That would be wise if he wants to stay in the Cup Series.

If not, LaJoie could try to get a competitive gear in the NASCAR Xfinity or Truck Series, but that’s risky. Once a full-time driver drops out of the Cup Series, it’s hard to come back. Cole Custer and John Hunter Nemechek have accomplished this feat, but it’s not an exact science. Lajoie may have a lot of options available to him, but not all of them may qualify for the Cup Series.

Latest update on Kyle Busch possibly joining Spire Motorsports in 2025

K Busch’s future with Richard Childress Racing has been hotly debated in recent months. With Richard Childress Racing struggling for speed, they need a win before the Olympic break for Busch to qualify for the 2024 NASCAR playoffs.

But will Busch make the jump to replace Corey LaJoie at Spire Motorsports in 2025? According to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, it’s unlikely Busch will replace LaJoie in Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 car in 2025. The No. 8 driver is under contract through 2025 and will likely return to Richard Childress Racing. Busch was one of the names mentioned alongside the No. 7 because of his ties to Spire Motorsports.

Had Busch been out of contract, these discussions may have been different. Years that would normally be considered a driver’s best have simply been wasted as Richard Childress Racing struggles for speed. Busch really wants to compete for wins again at the highest level of NASCAR, but next year won’t be the same with Spire Motorsports.
