Christian Eckes linked to shocking team in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2025

Christian Ecks has become an elite driver in the NASCAR Truck Series. Ecks has six wins in his last 33 races and leads Corey Heim by 31 points in the points standings. Despite his success with McAnally Hilgemann Racing, there hasn’t been much talk about the driver of the No. 19 car in NASCAR’s upper echelons.

Well, that changed quickly. According to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Ecks is likely to be one of two vacant positions at Front Row Motorsports for the 2025 Cup Series season. This is the first time Ecks has been publicly linked to a Cup Series team. Front Row Motorsports has two spots open after acquiring a charter, with Michael McDowell moving to Spire Motorsports.

Noah Gragson could take one of the two open spots at Front Row Motorsports, but Ecks could take the other spot if the situation is right. Front Row Motorsports has a tier 1 relationship with Ford, so this would be a great career move for the McAnally Hilgemann Racing driver. Ecks hasn’t been able to get much traction, but now he’s in the ring and is getting a good ride.

Sam Mayer linked to shocking team in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2025

Sam Mayer has been with JR Motorsports full-time since 2022, but things are finally starting to turn around for him as a driver. Since the start of 2023, Mayer has six wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including two in 2024.

However, the No. 1 car driver hasn’t been considered for many rides in the NASCAR Cup Series, which has frustrated him. That seems to be changing quickly, however. According to Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Mayer is projected to be a candidate for one of two vacant positions at Front Row Motorsports for the 2025 Cup Series season.

This is shocking, as Mayer has spent his entire career with Chevrolet. However, the lack of available seats among Chevrolet teams in the Xup series could be the driving force behind Mayer’s decision to look for another manufacturer.

The 21-year-old driver would be an attractive option for Front Row Motorsports, as the team is expanding its relationship with Ford to Tier 1 status for the 2024 NASCAR season. Mayer wants to race in NASCAR on Sundays, and Front Row Motorsports could be his best opportunity yet. It will be exciting to see if Mayer can grab one of the two available spots.
