Chase Elliott’s new Richmond sponsor announced, taking over from Hooters.

Chase Elliott has a sponsor for this Sunday’s Cookout 400 at Richmond Raceway. Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday that Coca-Cola will be the primary sponsor of Elliott’s No. 9 Chevrolet.

Elliott’s primary sponsorship at Richmond was initially listed as “TBA.” Sunday’s race was supposed to be the third and final race as a primary sponsor of Hooters Inc., but Hendrick terminated its contract with the chicken wing chain last month. “Hooters has been a valued partner of Hendrick Motorsports since 2017 and has contributed to our shared success on and off the track.

However, in recent months, Hooters has not met its commercial obligations to our organization,” Hendrick said in a statement at the time. “These unfortunate and unexpected circumstances have made it necessary for Hendrick Motorsports to end the relationship, despite the significant efforts made by both parties to find a workable solution. It has been a privilege to have Hooters as part of our team, and we wish them the best.”

Coca-Cola fills the Hooters void with a one-race deal. The iconic soft drink maker will become Elliott’s official beverage partner ahead of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, and Elliott, who previously had a relationship with PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew brand, has participated in the past two seasons. According to Toby Christie of the Coca-Cola Racing family.

Elliott will attempt to take his red and white Coca-Cola Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Richmond, his first race after the two-week Olympic break. The 2020 Cup Series champion is 10 points behind Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson at the top of the standings with just four regular-season races remaining.

“There’s still a lot of races to go. That’s how I look at it. A lot can happen in that time,” Elliott said. “I think this is going to make us all really better.” “I think we need to be really solid and maybe win a race or two by the end to have a real chance without causing problems for the others. I can’t imagine that four or five of us will have problems by then, or at least not all of us.”
