Chase Elliott reveals his favorite NASCAR memories from dad Bill Elliott’s career

Chase Elliott doesn’t just race in NASCAR, he’s lived the sport his whole life. His father, Bill Elliott, ran ahead of him. Of course, Awesomeville’s greatest success came before his son could even remember or was born. However, towards the end of his career, Bill experienced a resurgence of sorts. Working with Ray Evernham, Bill became competitive and even managed to win a few races in the early 2000s.

Chase remembers this time fondly as a child. Speaking to Kevin Harvick on the “Happy Hour” podcast, Chase Elliott spoke about that time. At Evernham, Bill Elliott won at Homestead-Miami, Pocono, Indianapolis and Rockingham from 2001 to 2003. “I think the best time I had as a kid was when my dad went to Ryder in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

I was old enough to barely remember parts of it, but old enough to understand how great it was, and obviously the state NSACAR was in at that point was high. It was incredible and what can I say, your dad was on another level of the show.

“I may not have realized it at the time, but I appreciate it even more when I look back on it. I realized the true joy it brought him to be able to run well again, because that wasn’t the case.” ,” Elliott Harvick explained. “He hadn’t won a race in a long time. The race was running badly for a few years when he tried to do his thing.” A few trips to Victory Lane stuck with Chase Elliott over the years. “It was really fun.

I especially remember going to Victory Lane in Pocono with him. I remember eating popcorn at the Pop Secret 400 in Victory Lane in Rockingham. I think he beat Jimmy that day. It’s amazing just thinking back on it. “You could see how much fun he was having at that point, and now you realize how hard it is to be competitive at this level and how many times he went through periods where it was hard to come back. I know.’ And young people are very good. ”
