Chase Elliott dubs HMS for career change to become Wrestler

Chase Elliott picks HMS teammate to be wrestler

NASCAR driver Chase Elliott named one of his “mysterious” Hendrick Motorsports teammates as the one most likely to switch from a career in Cup racing to becoming a professional wrestler.

A recent social media post uploaded by Hendrick Motorsports put Elliott and his teammate in a tricky position when they were asked which of the four HMS drivers would trade their racing career for a career in the wrestling ring.

After much deliberation, the No. 9 Chevrolet driver ultimately chose 26-year-old teammate William Byron as the one most likely to become a professional wrestler.

Before choosing Byron, Chase Elliott said he didn’t think it was likely that he or his HMS teammate would do so, and his teammate expressed similar sentiments. “After hearing that question, you could pick between the four of us,” Elliott jokingly said. Elliott explained that Byron is a mysterious character, so you can expect anything from him. “I can imagine William doing that. He’s a little mysterious, you don’t know what you’re going to get,” Elliott said.

Alex Bowman sat out the race due to a back injury he suffered last year. He paid great respect to his teammate Kyle Larson, choosing “the greatest racer of our generation” as a potential wrestler.

William Byron randomly chose Alex Bowman and imagined the driver of the #48 Chevrolet as if he were in a wrestling ring.

Meanwhile, Kyle Larson refrained from choosing a driver. He claimed that none of the drivers at Hendrick Motorsports were the wrestling type. “None of us, none of us, I don’t think we’re wrestlers.”

Chase Elliott wants to spend his entire career at Hendrick Motorsports. The 2020 NASCAR Cup champion made his 300th Cup Series start for Hendrick Motorsports at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Chase Elliott made his Cup debut with the team in 2015 and his full-time debut the following season. Elliott recently reflected on his time at HMS and expressed his gratitude to team owner Rick Hendrick.

The Dawsonville, Georgia native expressed a desire to follow Jeff Gordon’s lead and remain with the team for his entire Cup career. “I don’t know how long my career will last, but I want to spend it all here. This is the only home I’ve known in my NASCAR career and it’s been amazing.

I owe everything I have, my opportunities, my life, everything to Rick (Hendrick). It’s been a lot of fun,” he told HendrickMotorsports.com. Chase Elliott signed a five-year contract with Hendrick Motorsports in 2022 and is expected to drive the No. 9 Chevrolet through at least 2027.
