Chase Briscoe Reveals How He Blindsided Tony Stewart

Chase Briscoe’s life has just taken a 360-degree turn and he’s definitely in the best place right now. But that clearly hasn’t been the case in recent months. When Tony Stewart decided to shut down Stewart-Haas Racing, Briscoe’s future was uncertain and he struggled with the situation of no longer having an owner.

In fact, his desperate situation caused him to comb Reddit forums to find answers to the secret development. But now, it seems things have definitely changed for the better as the driver has surprised even team owner Tony Stewart.

How did the driver of Ford’s No. 14 car surprise Tony Stewart? Tony Stewart’s absence from the NASCAR circuit, rumors of charter seats being sold, and reduced sponsorship slots (triggered by Kevin Harvick’s resignation) all suggested something was going on behind the scenes. But despite all the uncertainty, there were no clear answers.

Nobody knew what was going on, not even the team’s drivers, who have always displayed an optimistic attitude. Many crew members had reportedly begun job searches before the official shutdown, but the team’s drivers were arguably the most stuck in limbo. They had to remain in SHR until the end of 2024 so they could play at a level that would attract new teams, while also dealing with the fear that they might be homeless in 2025.

Chase Briscoe’s situation was even more unusual. He was pregnant with twins, so he couldn’t give up. “I’m just trying to make sure I don’t get left behind. I don’t have anything to fall back on. I’m not like some other people who have family circumstances and stuff. “With a 2-and-a-half-year-old, a wife and twins on the way, I couldn’t be left behind and have nothing,” the No. 14 driver said, according to Autoweek.

But then Martin Truex Jr. announced his retirement, giving the 29-year-old the ray of hope he was looking for. Brisco immediately contacted a representative from JGR. And lo and behold? Within a week, he had already signed a contract. And what’s most surprising about that? Not even his team owner expected this, as the driver revealed in a recent conversation.

Chase Briscoe recounted his conversation with Stewart in an interview with NASCAR. He said: “So, I called him, and at the end of the conversation he said, ‘If there’s anything I can do for you…’ Just like you would call someone, feel free to let me know, and I said, ‘You don’t actually have to.'” “I signed something yesterday. And he said, ‘Oh, a front-row contract?’ And I said, ‘No, not a front-row contract.’ And he said, ‘Oh, Wood Brothers? No, not Wood Brothers.’ He said, ‘So what?’ And I said, ‘I’m going to JGR to drive the 19.'”

Briscoe actually did the same thing Tony Stewart did, just in a slightly different way. Tony Stewart went from JGR to SHR, but he jumped from SHR to JGR.

And for Briscoe, the road ahead certainly looks exciting, jumping to one of the most respected teams in NASCAR. But with such a jump comes pressure and expectation. And JGR certainly has high hopes for him, and it looks like he’s a racer himself!
