Bubba Wallace shares a note with fans celebrating Juneteenth: “I’m proud to play a small role”

Bubba Wallace, the only African-American driver currently competing in NASCAR, shared a heartfelt message in honor of Juneteenth. He urged fans to get out of their comfort zones and move forward in life.

Bubba Wallace is in his 14th season of his NASCAR career, with a total of eight wins in the sport. Wallace currently drives the No. 23 Toyota Camry XSE for the 23XI Racing Team owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan.

He is 14th in the Cup standings with 414 points, including three top-five and five top-10 finishes in 17 races. On the occasion of Juneteenth, a day that signifies “freedom” for African-Americans due to the legal abolition of slavery, Bubba Wallace shared a message via his social media[X]. “I’ve been thinking a lot about what role this day plays in this sport and what responsibility I have with my platform.

Juneteenth celebrates the freedom of enslaved African-Americans in the United States. I am proud to play a small role in seeing faces from all walks of life on the racetrack.

As we celebrate this day, I encourage you to also step out of your comfort zone, question your perspective, and move forward with compassion and understanding. Good luck ✌”

In addition to representing the African-American community in NASCAR, Wallace previously advocated for a ban on the Confederate flag at all NASCAR events, arguing it as a step toward inclusivity.

Wallace believed that banning the flag would create a more inclusive atmosphere and potentially expand the viewer base. Apart from Cup racing driving the No. 23 car for the 23XI Racing Team, Bubba Wallace returned to SSO this season after a five-year hiatus.

Bubba Wallace to compete in Cookout Summer Shootout

According to Speedwaydigest.com, Bubba Wallace returned to the track this year after a five-year hiatus for the Cookout Summer Shootout. He made his return in the opening week doubleheader at the famous Quarter Mile earlier this month and is set to compete in all 10 events of the series this summer. Bubba Wallace has racked up 13 wins in the United States during his early racing years.

He competed in the Legends Pro division, VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro division and Bandolero Bandits division, much to the delight of his hometown fans. This season, he is behind the wheel of the No. 76 car in the Pro division. Getting used to a car with a much different power-to-weight ratio than what he’s used to in the NASCAR Cup Series will be a challenge Wallace hopes to overcome.

The event kicks off June 10 and will feature a total of 10 races over eight weeks, with America’s Home for Racing bringing together more than 150 drivers from across North America, all of whom have completed the quarter-mile course that has been a key proving ground for amateur and professional racing drivers for more than three decades.
