Prescott has a no-franchise tag clause, which means the quarterback will become an unrestricted free agent in 2025 unless a new contract is reached. “According to sources, the Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have a mutual understanding of his contract situation, and there is no offer from Dallas even though he is in the middle of his contract year,” Rapoport said. He pointed this out in a series of messages on the X program on May 26th. “We’re gearing up and getting ready for this year right now,” Jerry Jones said. “There is no indication that a deal will be reached. This appears to pave the way for Dak Prescott to test free agency in 2025.”

Spotrac projects Prescott’s market value to be a four-year, $203 million contract, which would give the quarterback an average annual salary topping $50 million.
