Kansas City coach Andy Reid throw shade at 49er due to Brock Purdy decision…

The Kansas City Chiefs have defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl twice in the past five years. Still, coach Andy Reid knows they won’t be going away anytime soon, especially with Brock Purdy at the helm.

Recently, the legendary head coach praised the former Mr. Irrelevant, saying that as long as a guy like Kyle Shanahan is at the helm and Purdy is there, the Niners are going to be pretty dangerous (via Dave Lombardi ). “I know (Shanahan) has a great young quarterback, but it’s a killer for him to have a great young quarterback,” Reid said.

Purdy was the most polarizing quarterback in the league last season. Some consider him a system quarterback and the weakest link in their offense.

Others praise him for implementing the system at such a high level and don’t think he should be singled out for draft position or quality teammates. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in between.

Purdy’s play cost the Niners several games in the regular season, but he carried the team on his back to get the job done in the postseason. It’s not like Purdy made the decision to get the ball first in overtime. It was all thanks to his head coach. Going forward, the jury will still be out on the decision on the Iowa State product, who will have one more season to prove he’s worthy of a big long-term deal with the organization.
