San Francisco 49ers appear ready to replace defensive end Arik Armstead with free agent Jordan Elliott, whose agent confirmed on Tuesday that Jordan Elliott has agreed to terms with the team. They said they agreed. The city of San Francisco asked Armstead to take a $17.4 million pay cut in 2024, but Armstead refused.
Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that the 49ers plan to release Armstead following this decision. In return, the 49ers will pay Elliott a two-year, $10 million contract. Most of Elliott’s sacks and tackles came in the past two seasons, during which he started 31 games. Elliott admitted that his career had a rocky start, but he has turned things around.

Elliott credited the Browns for giving him a chance for so long, Petrak wrote. Elliott signed a four-year, $4.5 million rookie contract with the team, but he started just four games in the first two years and only received playing time in his third season in 2022. Ta.

Eroyt admitted to Petrak that motivation and irregular training sessions (twice a week) were to blame. Elliott changed after 2021 and began a five-day training program, Petrak wrote. “I definitely had the confidence, but I lacked the motivation,” Elliott said. “Lack of concentration, lack of attention to detail, lack of professionalism.
“I was self-aware, but not self-aware enough to want to improve. It took me until now to understand that,” he added. Cleveland selected Elliott with a third-round pick out of Missouri in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had a stellar college career with the Tigers and Texas Longhorns, appearing in 26 games over three seasons and recording 52 tackles, 5.5 sacks and four pass deflections.
There was a question mark over Elliott’s college path, as he went to Baylor, Michigan and Houston before the Longhorns.
