Dallas Cowboys Re-Signs Dak Prescott With a Collosal $60.5 Million Contract and $5 million roster bonus

Quarterback contracts offer some of the biggest incentives in the entire league.
An incentive that is very successful in the NFL but is less discussed is roster bonuses. These are used by teams to free up cap space and keep players happy.

But as is often the case, certain players are happier than others, and Dak Prescott is one of those people. To receive a roster bonus, a player must be on the team’s active roster as of the date specified in the contract. March 18th is that day for many NFL players, including the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
The 2023 season was mostly a successful one for Prescott.

He gained 4,516 yards, completed 36 touchdown passes, had nine interceptions, and completed 410 of 590 passes. He led his team to the postseason, but narrowly lost to the Green Bay Packers in the Super Wild Card round.
There has been some tension between the signal-caller and the Cowboys’ management office recently, but the important factor here is that he shows up on his scheduled day and doesn’t have an injury that would keep him off the main roster.

How much is Prescott’s team bonus?

His second-highest bonus paid that day was Prescott’s. The Cowboys quarterback’s $5 million payout is only slightly less than the $10 million that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is paid. Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews will receive $4 million.
Prescott’s current four-year contract is worth $160 million, with $126 million guaranteed, a signing bonus of $66 million and an average annual salary of $40 million. The signal-caller will make $29 million in 2024, but his cap hit will be $55.5 million. The Cowboys are trying to re-sign the player, as he would be carrying a dead cap hit of $66.9 million if he leaves.
