Cowboys set to Add 10-TD WR Before 2024 Regular Season

The Dallas Cowboys gave up some offensive weapons, but could add some new talent at wide receiver. The departure of Michael Gallup may not seem like a huge loss, but it means the Cowboys will need to reload at the position. That’s why Brian Martin, author of “Blogging the Boys,” believes Dallas could sign Washington prospect Jarrin Polk in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Polk had a great year, but he could be next with the Cowboys. “Wide receiver could be a hidden ‘need’ for the Cowboys, especially after firing Michael Gallup. Jalin Polk will not only fill that need, but will upgrade Dallas’ entire receiving corps,” Martin wrote on March 20. “A 6-foot, 200-pound WR is exactly the player they need to play alongside CeeDee Lamb. Polk is a true deep threat, a differentiated route runner, and a 2024 He is one of the most competitive catching receivers in the entire draft class.”

Polk and the Washington Huskies advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship last season, all with the best ball ever, but that said, throughout his college career, he There are encouraging signs that he will become a starting WR at the NFL level. Get used to it.

Polk Entering NFL Draft After Huskies Career

Polk began his college career at Texas Tech, but transferred to Lubbock, Texas, after one season. He took a year to get acclimated to Washington, as Sports Reference indicates he didn’t make a significant contribution until the 2022 season. In his second season with Seattle, Polk caught 41 passes for 694 yards and six touchdowns. While the volume numbers don’t catch your eye, his yards per reception certainly does. Polk averaged 16.9 yards per catch in 2022. Despite playing a much more prominent role in the Huskies’ offense, his average dropped to just 16.8 yards per grab in 2023. Last season, he had 69 receptions for 1,159 total yards and 10 total touchdowns. The only concern for Polk is that he is not an elite athlete. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds at the NFL Combine, but NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein said he may not have enough of a start to consistently win in the NFL. There is. “Polk’s speed proved to be slightly below average at the NFL Scouting Combine,” Zierlein wrote. “But his other numbers were strong enough to be considered from day two of the draft.”

Former Cowboys WR Visiting Ravens

Michael Gallup is looking for his next team as Dallas considers its next move at WR. As it stands, the Baltimore Ravens appear to be the frontrunners for him. On March 20, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported that Gallup would visit Baltimore on March 21.

“Cowboys free agent wide receiver Michael Gallup is scheduled to visit the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday,” Schefter wrote in the X. Gallup is looking for a fresh start after a disappointing end to his career in Dallas. After a 2019 season in which he had 1,109 receiving yards and six touchdowns, he never reached those numbers again. In fact, the former Cowboys wide receiver has never totaled more than 500 yards in the past three seasons.
