Cowboys release popular wide receiver to make room for Buffalo Bills WR to pair with CeeDee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys released a reliable wide receiver target on Friday to free up salary funds for the 2024 season. After a very quiet first week of free agency, the Cowboys announced several roster cuts. The signing of linebacker Eric Kendricks was the biggest deal for Dallas.
The Dallas Cowboys made some moves on defense. Perhaps the Cowboys’ plans with Leighton Vander Esch led to the signing of Kendricks. The Cowboys released Vander Esch on Friday afternoon. It is unclear whether he will play again. Additionally, they parted ways with a wide receiver, freeing up a roster position for what could be a pretty significant offseason acquisition.

Cowboys release Michael Gallup

According to Michael Gerken of the Dallas News, the Cowboys have released Michael Gallup. This release allows the Cowboys to recoup $9.5 million for the 2024 season.
The Cowboys selected Gallas in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old has 266 receptions, 3,744 yards and 21 receiving touchdowns in his NFL career.

Gallup’s release could hint at Dallas’ plans to sign another star wide receiver to pair with CeeDee Lamb.
Cowboys could consider trading Stefon Diggs
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs has made a mysterious adjustment to his social media profile that could hint at a trade, as previously mentioned on GH. Trevon Diggs, the younger brother of Cowboys cornerback Stefon Diggs, encouraged the Buffalo Bills wide receiver to leave town last season.
The Cowboys could try to acquire Stephon via trade in the offseason. Jerry Jones says the team is determined to win the Super Bowl. The extra money from Gallup’s release could be used by the Cowboys to sign a wide receiver as a free agent. Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams could be a big asset for a Cowboys offense that needs to score from a strong defense in the playoffs.
