CeeDee vs Cowboys: Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Faces Contract standoff Ahead Of Fifth Season

Dallas Cowboys CeeDee Lamb, one of the league’s best wide receivers, will be playing his fifth season with the team. The wide receiver will exercise his fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

Lamb has no plans to participate in any volunteer activities and could instead go to training camp. According to Michael Gehrken of the Dallas Morning News, it was shared via Heavy.

“Unless there is a contract extension, which once completed would make Lamb the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, Lamb will not be on the field. At least that seems like a precedent he’s sure to follow. ”

The Cowboys will begin their voluntary spring training program one week from today. Barring an unexpected departure from precedent, WR CeeDee Lamb will likely sit out due to the looming possibility of a holdout. https://t.co/0BWpoNI0LO

“Lamb’s agent, Tory Dundee, did not respond to a request for comment on whether Lamb will join his teammates in the Cowboys’ spring training at the Ford Center at The Star. However, Dundee and Lamb of course know that participation will be voluntary throughout most of the spring.”

If a wide receiver doesn’t get the contract he wanted, the most likely outcome could be a holdout. Several players in the past have aggressively negotiated contracts without paying penalties for missing camp sessions.

CeeDee Lamb is literally having the best statistical season ever by a wide receiver in Dallas Cowboys franchise history. Like most of the team’s big-name players who end up in contract negotiations, he has all the leverage. https://t.co/wxnygyHAfl

Lamb was selected by the Cowboys with the 17th pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver emerged as one of the best players in the field last season with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. His value in the league is high right now, and he is expected to sign a long-term contract with the team.
