‘You’re not going to luck up and win’:Denny Hamlin commends Chase Briscoe, SHR for Darlington

Throughout the NASCAR Cup Series season,  you’ll see  some surprise winners. Tracks  like Daytona and Talladega tend to  attract losers. Darlington? Not so much.

The Lady in Black is as  unstoppable as any  other track on the  calendar and if  you want to find Victory Lane, you  have to overcome the  road that is very difficult to  tame. And so when you  made a  short .
The list of drivers who could  make it  to Sunday’s 500 Southern, the regular season finale, Chase Briscoe probably  didn’t cross your mind.  It’s nothing against the  ace of Stewart-Haas  Racing, but  finding himself in a must-win situation at Darlington  is not an ideal  situation. But Briscoe and his team were  focused from the  start, qualifying third and staying near the front of the field for the  duration of the 367-lap, 500-mile marathon. And with 26 laps to go, Briscoe made a career-defining move,  passing Ty Gibbs, Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain in Turn 3 to take  a lead he  never relinquished.

Briscoe is  part of the  16-man playoff field and  has certainly earned it, even  earning praise from Denny Hamlin on  Monday’s “Harmful Actions” podcast. Chase Briscoe  clinch playoff spot after surprise  win at  Darlington “At tracks like Darlington,  you can’t get lucky and  win,” Hamlin said.

“There are a lot of things from the car,  the driver,  the pit crew and all that. And the 14 team has all  these pieces of the puzzle together. They have  enough funding to  be fast enough, their pit  team is  pretty good  , his driver is  pretty good  and  has been out the  whole race.”“It’s just Daytona or  superspeedways  – Atlanta this  weekend could definitely  see another surprise winner.

“It’s just a different  kind of racing. As a sport,  we’ve just  evolved in that direction.”The victory was  particularly emotional for Briscoe,  who will soon  join Joe Gibbs Racing  in 2025. SHR  closes its doors after the 2024 campaign and  more than 300 employees will soon be out of  a job.
Briscoe’s triumph, which  ended a  streak of 93 victories, was  for them as  much as for  him.”For all  the 320 employees,  all, to be able to  compete for a championship in their  senior year. year is  incredible. “God is so  good,” Briscoe said after the race.  “It’s like  deja vu  at the end with Kyle, with the Xfinity race here in 2020. Obviously, I  didn’t know if I  could do it.  … Tonight literally went  perfectly.

The pit crew did  a outstanding job we cry After  chess, I just won the Southern 500,  it’s a  jewel in the crown.
