Josh Berry’s victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway marked a new chapter for Wood Brothers Racing, delivering his first career NASCAR Cup Series win. This milestone also secured the team’s 101st Cup Series triumph in dramatic fashion, as Berry overtook Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez in the closing laps to seal the win.
Driving the iconic red and white No. 21 Ford with gold numbers, Berry’s success resonated with fans. His journey to the Cup Series is a testament to perseverance, having advanced through the ranks without substantial financial backing. His early-season win is a significant achievement for the single-car Wood Brothers Racing team, which benefits from a technical alliance with Team Penske. For the second consecutive year, the No. 21 car will compete in the playoffs, guaranteeing the team a minimum $1 million bonus at the end of the season.
Reflecting on the win, Berry acknowledged the team’s rich legacy. “The Wood Brothers have been around for 75 years,” he said. “It’s an honor to drive their car, but to win a race and perform as we have is beyond my expectations. Winning at an intermediate track like Las Vegas is truly special. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity in the Cup Series.”

Last season, Wood Brothers Racing earned a playoff spot with Harrison Burton’s dramatic win at Daytona International Speedway during the regular-season finale. That victory, which came while Burton was 34th in the standings, provided a crucial financial lift for the team heading into 2025.
Berry is determined to maximize his opportunity this season. His strong performance has already attracted new sponsorship from eero, which first appeared on the No. 21 car at Phoenix, where he secured a fourth-place finish. At Atlanta, Berry showcased his potential by leading 56 laps before being caught in an accident.
Crew chief Miles Stanley is optimistic about the team’s direction. “Our performance so far has exceeded expectations,” Stanley said. “Our goal is clear – win races, make the playoffs, and advance through them. We’re on the right path to achieving that.”
Berry’s next challenge will be at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where he finished 11th last season, as he continues to build on his promising start with Wood Brothers Racing.
