When was the last time Kyle Busch dominated his hometrack in Las Vegas?

Kyle Busch is gearing up for his fifth race of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season at the Pennzoil 400 powered by Jiffy Lube. The 267-lap event will take place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a track that holds special significance for Busch as it is his hometown venue.

Since joining Richard Childress Racing, Busch’s best performance at the 1.5-mile quad-oval came in 2023 when he finished third during his debut season with the team. However, his most dominant showing at the track occurred in 2009, when he claimed victory in the Shelby 427. During that race, Busch led 51 of the 285 laps, fending off Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton to capture his first win of the season.

Busch has consistently delivered strong results at Las Vegas Motor Speedway throughout his career. In 2018, during his 11th season with Joe Gibbs Racing, he finished second behind Kevin Harvick, leading 10 laps and collecting 43 points. Over his time with Joe Gibbs Racing and Hendrick Motorsports, Busch accumulated three top-10 finishes and 12 top-fives at the Nevada track, including eight top-three results. This weekend’s race will mark his 28th start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Fans can catch the action live on Fox Sports 1 or tune in to PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 3:30 pm ET.

As Busch prepares for the race, he remains determined to break a career-long 61-race winless streak that dates back to June 2023. Despite the drought, he believes in the hard work and dedication of his No. 8 team at Richard Childress Racing. Busch credits team owner Richard Childress for fostering a culture of determination and teamwork. Speaking about the team’s work ethic, Busch remarked (via NASCAR),

“I really think that that comes down to those people and those guys and at the race shop, how everybody’s kind of gelling together, working together. It starts with Richard, but it then trickles down to everybody there that we’re a hard-working group, and I don’t think anybody’s gonna outwork us.”

With 232 career wins across NASCAR’s three national series, Busch is the winningest active driver. However, he has only one victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend, he hopes to secure a second win at his home track—a result that would guarantee his place in the 2025 playoffs.
