Kyle Busch’s 2024 NASCAR season might not have been the most remarkable on the track, but off the track, his family adventures stole the spotlight for fans. From Brexton Busch’s victories in youth racing to the family’s fun-filled 4th of July getaway on the water, their personal lives captivated many.
Samantha Busch, Kyle’s wife, recently made headlines on Instagram when she revealed a significant change in her dietary habits—she started eating red meat again after years of avoiding it.
During a break between her son Brexton’s races, Samantha addressed a question she’s been frequently asked about her sudden craving for red meat. She explained that the change wasn’t planned but rather her body signaling a need. “I stopped eating red meat when I was 12,” she said, sharing her long-standing preference for chicken, turkey, and fish. “I never had any desire for red meat, and the thought of it used to make me gag.”
That changed recently when she began craving steak while preparing it for her family. “Every time I made it for the boys, I thought, ‘This doesn’t seem so bad,’” she admitted. Eventually, she gave in while dining in Las Vegas, trying steak for the first time in over 20 years. The experience was eye-opening. “Since then, I’ve been craving it at least three times a week, and I’m obsessed,” Samantha confessed. Surprisingly, despite warnings about potential digestive issues, she felt fantastic. She even noticed positive changes in her skin and overall health.
This shift ties into Samantha’s journey of managing alopecia, an autoimmune condition. While she had followed a less inflammatory diet—including avoiding dairy—she emphasized the importance of paying attention to her body’s needs. “You know your body better than any test,” Samantha shared. “Be your own advocate, keep digging, and figure out what makes you feel like the best version of yourself.”
Outside of her dietary revelations, Samantha remains deeply involved in her son Brexton’s racing endeavors. Brexton, like his father, is climbing the motorsports ranks. Kyle Busch shared that his son might begin competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at age 16. For now, Brexton is preparing for his karting debut following a win at the Micro Sprint championship.
Recently, Brexton showcased his knowledge of the Trackhouse Motorplex—a 0.7-mile, 11-turn karting track in Mooresville, North Carolina—by drawing an impressively accurate depiction of the layout. He competed in the track’s Karting Challenge, marking his first karting experience with mixed results.
Looking ahead, Brexton’s schedule includes running Legend cars when he turns 10 next year, followed by Pro Late Models in the CARS Tour at age 12. Kyle Busch has enlisted notable names, including former Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Greg Ives and former F1 driver Max Papis, to support Brexton’s karting program and improve his road course skills.
Despite a challenging 2024 Cup Series season, which saw Kyle Busch finish with five top-5s and ten top-10s, he looks forward to focusing on Brexton’s budding career during the offseason.
