A weekend on the high boards of Daytona International Speedway has come and gone, but what does that mean for the NASCAR power standings?
A lot of fast cars were destroyed in the process, so it’s going to take some shade. This week for the NASCAR power rankings, it’s tough.
Many of the top 10 drivers crashed at Daytona. But many had speed before the race or came back to get good results.
Below I tried to give credit to those who deserved it and not punish others too much if they got hurt in the process
1. Tyler Reddick – 23XI Racing (-)
Although Tyler Reddick was one of the casualties of the retirement at Daytona, he still has an incredibly strong streak. With his good performance over the last 8 weeks, I can’t knock him out of the top spot.Reddick will stay atop the NASCAR power standings for at least another week. It will take a special performance or two to dislodge 45 from that
2. Kyle Larson – Hendrick Motorsports (-)
Look, basically the same thing I said about Reddick applies to Kyle Larson. He’s done too many good things this season to be ruled out for a race at Daytona. Now, Larson hasn’t been as hot as he was earlier in the season. This may cause concern in the future.
3. Denny Hamlin – Joe Gibbs Racing (-)
Okay, next, I promise there will be changes in the NASCAR power standings. These three have been so good this season that it will take a lot of work to knock them out of the top three positions.Denny Hamlin had a great season, but the last few weeks of the regular season did not. been so kind. It is necessary to return to Darlington and regain the positive momentum.
4. Christopher Bell – Joe Gibbs Racing (+6)
I was hard on Christopher Bell this summer. Had speed issues and others from Nashville to Michigan. But there were some bright spots Three top-10 finishes in the last four races, including two top-5s, means Bell moves up the NASCAR standings and more .
5. Bubba Wallace – 23XI Racing ( +2)
What did you think of Bubba Wallace’s performance? Four top 10s in the last five races and he turned things around at Daytona.Although he didn’t score as many points as he should have, Wallace had another top 10.
6. Carson Hocevar – Spire Motorsports (+2)
For the last 11 races, Carson Hocevar has held the wheel and that’s really all you have to do. He’s only finished outside the top 20 once since Charlotte.
Hocevar has real star potential. He deserves to be in the NASCAR power rankings when he has had an average finishing position in the last 11 races better than most other competitors.
7. William Byron – Hendrick Motorsports (-3)
High and low, high and high. William Byron and his team no. 24 have no dynamics or stability. Byron needs to get things moving in a positive direction before it’s too late. He has no more options.
8. Ryan Blaney – Team Penske (-3)
Ryan Blaney held his own for the Ford field. But it has been in a downward spiral in recent races. After finishing 3rd at Indy before the two-week layoff, Blaney finished 11th, 18th and 29th in the last three races. This is not ideal.
9. Chase Elliott – Hendrick Motorsports (-3)
Although Chase Elliott is in contention for the regular season championship, his winning streak is not there. I haven’t felt like he had a winning car since… I don’t know when. Elliott falls in the NASCAR power rankings after a poor post-Olympic comeback. Like his partner Byron, Elliott needs to change things.
10. Brad Keselowski – RFK Racing (NR)
Two straight top 10s and Brad Keselowski is back in the NASCAR power standings. His RFK Racing team did everything they could to keep him in the race.Keselowski was early in Michigan and hopes to bring that winning speed back to Darlington this Sunday. Can he defeat the Lady in Black?
