NASCAR Insider drops update on $3.9B worth Roger Penske’s status in Rolex 24 Daytona

Roger Penske, the business magnate and chairman of Penske Corporation, is closely monitoring his team’s performance in the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Penske’s two Porsche Penske 963 cars are currently in the thick of the race, having shown impressive performance so far. Fans following the race were curious about Penske’s presence at the track, especially given the intense nature of the event. NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass shared an update, revealing that Penske is, in fact, at the track, staying awake for most of the race. Pockrass joked on social media, stating that while he couldn’t track Penske’s sleep patterns, any rest he takes would be brief.

While Penske is widely known for his involvement in NASCAR, particularly as the owner of Team Penske, his business empire extends far beyond the sport. The Penske Corporation, which he leads, owns the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the entire IndyCar Series, and a vast network of car dealerships in the US, Canada, and Europe. Penske’s keen business acumen has made him one of the wealthiest figures in motorsports, with an estimated net worth of $6.5 billion, according to Forbes. In addition to his business ventures, Penske’s NASCAR Cup Series team has enjoyed success, with Joey Logano clinching the 2024 Cup Series championship.

As the 2025 Rolex 24 enters its final hours, Penske’s two Porsche 963 cars are in strong contention for the win. The #7 and #6 cars, which started in third and tenth positions, respectively, have made up significant ground. After the early lead held by BMW M Team RLL, which started from pole position, the Porsches have managed to gain the upper hand. Both cars have been leading at various points in the race, with the #7 currently in the lead and the #6 in second, maintaining a 12-second gap with three hours remaining.

The two Porsches, driven by Mathieu Jaminet, Matt Campbell, and Kevin Estre in the #6 car, and Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy, and Laurens Vanthoor in the #7, are battling fiercely for the top spot in the GTP category. However, the team is facing a tough challenge from the #24 BMW, which has briefly taken the lead at different stages but fell to third after a pit stop. The final hours of the race are shaping up to be a strategic battle, with the Porsches aiming to hold off their competition and secure a victory for Penske’s team.
