Millionaire Greg Biffle transparent about his ‘distinguished’ NASCAR return

Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle is set to serve as the Honorary Pace Car driver for the upcoming Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway. With an estimated net worth of $30 million, Biffle is a two-time winner at Darlington, famously known as “The Lady in Black.” His last NASCAR appearance was in the 2022 Daytona 500.

Biffle claimed consecutive Southern 500 victories at Darlington in 2005 and 2006 while driving the No. 16 Ford for Roush Racing. In 2005, he qualified third and dominated the race, leading 176 laps. The following year, he started from pole and led 170 laps to another victory.

Expressing his excitement, Biffle stated:
“I’m thrilled to be the Honorary Pace Car driver for such a celebrated day in our sport, while being in the company of current and former competitors alike. To have a distinguished role in Sunday’s race and be part of Darlington’s 75th Anniversary celebration this year is a true honor.”

This recognition follows Biffle’s efforts in assisting communities affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina last year.

Before retiring in 2016, Biffle enjoyed a 20-year NASCAR career across all three National Series, securing 57 victories. Known as “The Biff,” he will lead the field on April 6 at Darlington Speedway.

The race weekend also coincides with “The Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR,” where teams will sport historic paint schemes and race suits.

Biffle on Ross Chastain’s Driving Style

Biffle also shared his thoughts on Ross Chastain’s aggressive racing style, acknowledging his talent but pointing out the risks. Chastain has been at the center of numerous incidents, frustrating fellow drivers.

During the 2023 Goodyear 400, Chastain forced Kyle Larson into the wall, triggering a crash with six laps to go. Both were contending for the win, but the incident opened the door for William Byron’s victory, while Chastain dropped to 29th after leading 93 laps.

On the Dale Jr. Download Classics podcast, Biffle remarked:

“I see Ross Chastain, I watch him, I think he’s got a lot of talent, but I see him over-aggressive. Sometimes it costs him, and it may cost him later, but he’s learning. He’s got to recognize when things don’t work out.”

Biffle himself has had conflicts, notably with Kevin Harvick at Bristol in 2002. After contact led to Harvick’s crash in a Busch Series race, Harvick confronted Biffle post-race, resulting in a fine and probation from NASCAR.
