STATESVILLE, N.C. (January 2, 2025) – Mike Wallace, the seasoned NASCAR driver, is set to make a thrilling return to the Daytona 500 in 2025, joining Motorsports Business Management (MBM Motorsports) to race the No. 66 Ford Mustang Dark Horse during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway.
At 65 years old, Wallace boasts over 800 NASCAR starts across the sport’s top three divisions, including eleven Daytona 500 appearances. The Missouri native has an impressive track record, with nine NASCAR national series wins and victories at Daytona in multiple series, including the NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series. He has also won at Talladega Superspeedway, another legendary superspeedway known for its high-speed drafting races.
“I’m thrilled to be back with Carl Long and the entire MBM Motorsports team,” Wallace said. “It’s an honor to return to Daytona, where I’ve experienced so much success. I’ve won the inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race here, as well as Xfinity and ARCA races, and I’m proud of my legacy at this track. After such a difficult year personally, I’m excited for this new chapter and the chance to compete in the Daytona 500 once again.”
The 2024 season was a tough one for Wallace following the loss of his wife of 44 years to cancer. However, he is now looking ahead to 2025 with optimism, beginning with the upcoming Daytona 500. “It’s a fresh start, and we’re ready to race our way into the Great American Race,” he added.
Carl Long, who runs MBM Motorsports with co-owners Rocky and Tom Smith, spoke about the partnership, stating that Wallace’s expertise at superspeedways made him the ideal choice for the No. 66 car. Long previously worked with Wallace as a teammate at JGL Racing in the Xfinity Series and appreciates the skill Wallace brings to these high-speed, draft-heavy tracks.
Coble Enterprises, a long-time MBM partner specializing in property management, has already signed on as an associate sponsor for the No. 66 team at Daytona. The team is also actively seeking additional sponsors for the race.
The 67th Daytona 500 will kick off NASCAR’s 2025 season on Sunday, February 16, at 2:30 p.m. ET, after practice and qualifying events earlier in Speedweeks.
