Richard Childress Racing has reinforced its collaboration with Austin Dillon and the #3 Chevy team’s long-standing sponsor, Dow. This announcement comes on the heels of Dillon’s contentious win at Richmond Raceway, which resulted in NASCAR’s choice to exclude him from the playoffs.
Richard Childress Racing and Austin Dillon have renewed their partnership with Dow, a sponsor that has been with Dillon since the beginning of his Cup career, extending through the 2025 season. This news was revealed during a press conference at Michigan International Speedway, just before the FireKeepers Casino 400.
Dow, a material sciences company based in Michigan, has been a consistent presence on Dillon’s car, prominently displayed on the hood of the #3 RCR Chevy during significant events. These include Dillon’s pole position at the Daytona 500 in his rookie year of 2014, his first Cup win at the 2017 Coca-Cola 600, and his triumph at the 2018 Daytona 500.
Dillon took a moment to reflect on his ten-year journey with Dow, calling the collaboration the most “genuine and heartfelt” of his professional life. At 34, he shared insights about the deep connections he has built with Dow’s team members and praised the company’s numerous community outreach efforts.
“The relationship I have with Dow stands out as one of the most genuine and heartfelt in my motorsports journey. I’ve truly enjoyed connecting with Dow employees around the world, many of whom have become dear friends. We’ve witnessed the impact of our partnership through initiatives like the Dow Salutes Veterans program, which continues to grow each year, and we’ve seen customers from diverse industries appreciating their experiences with Dow at the racetrack,” he stated in a press release.
The collaboration between Dow and Richard Childress Racing has also led to the establishment of Dow MobilityScience, a specialized division dedicated to automotive innovations. This division focuses on creating high-performance components and materials tailored specifically for the #3 RCR Chevy.
“From day one in the NASCAR Cup Series, Dow has been my steadfast supporter, and it means a great deal to know that Dow’s scientists are tirelessly working to maximize the speed of our Chevys. I take great pride in being linked with one of the leading materials science companies in the world and will strive to represent Dow both on and off the track,” Dillon concluded.
Austin Dillon is feeling hopeful regarding the appeal following his NASCAR penalty. Richard Childress Racing has decided to contest the ruling, and Dillon is confident that they will make a compelling argument to reverse the penalties.
In a conversation with Bob Pockrass at Michigan International Speedway, Dillon expressed his optimism: “I feel pretty good about it… the appeal process isn’t easy, but we’ll do a good job on our side to try and cover all of our bases and see what the outcome really is,” he stated.
The National Motorsports Appeals Panel is set to hear the appeal on Wednesday, August 21. Currently, the #3 Chevy driver is positioned 31st in the driver standings.
