Doug Duchardt, the president of Spire Motorsports, is set to join TWG Group as their Chief Performance Officer of Motorsports. Duchardt brings a wealth of experience to the role, having held significant positions at General Motors. TWG, a diverse organization engaged in various motorsport disciplines, has teamed up with GM to launch the Cadillac Formula One team. By 2026, TWG aims to compete across multiple platforms, including NASCAR through its ties with Spire Motorsports, IndyCar by managing former Andretti properties, IMSA with Wayne Taylor Racing, and Formula One under the Cadillac brand.
Spire Motorsports is reorganizing its leadership structure in response to Duchardt’s departure. Bill Anthony, the team’s Executive Vice President, and Todd Mackin, the president of Spire Holdings, will assume his responsibilities to ensure operational continuity. Meanwhile, co-owner Jeff Dickerson will remain with Spire to provide stability during the transition. Official announcements regarding these leadership changes are expected next week.
Spire Motorsports has also been strengthening its operations. The team recently acquired a third charter and enhanced its driver roster with Justin Haley, Michael McDowell, and Carson Hocevar. Additionally, last week, Spire announced the appointments of former RFK Racing crew chief Matt McCall as Director of Vehicle Performance and Dax Gerringer as Technical Director.
Jeff Dickerson expressed his excitement about McCall’s arrival, saying, “This is a significant addition to our team and personally meaningful to me. Matt has been a longtime friend and one of my first NASCAR clients when I started as an agent. We’ve always shared a similar philosophy on how race cars and teams should function. I’m thrilled the timing finally worked out for us to collaborate, and I’m excited to add him to an already impressive lineup for 2025.”
McCall shared his enthusiasm as well, stating, “I’m genuinely excited and grateful for this opportunity. Spire Motorsports’ growth has been remarkable, and I’m eager to contribute to its success. I’ve known Jeff (Dickerson) for nearly 25 years, dating back to when he represented drivers and I was building my career as one. Over the years, we’ve maintained a great relationship, and when this opportunity arose, it felt like the perfect time to join. Knowing what’s being built here and the team’s vision for the future is incredibly exciting.”
