Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott are battling for the NASCAR Cup Series regular season championship with one race remaining. NASCAR insider Jordan Bianchi and The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck talked about the three drivers and weighed the pros and cons of who has the best chance to win the title. “[Reddick] drove 174 laps in the spring,” Bianchi said on The Teardown podcast about Reddick’s performance at Darlington earlier this year.
“They had a lot of speed in their race cars. … Look at what they’ve done all summer. They’ve had speed every week, they don’t make mistakes, they execute, they qualify well, which is really important at Darlington, by the way . I’d almost say Reddick is the favorite in this race. »NASCAR fans will be heading to Darlington this weekend for the South 500, the final race of the regular season.
Gluck highlighted the challenge Elliott and Larson face when trying to overtake Reddick in the standings. like, ‘Well, I’m good at Darlington.’ Hopefully Reddick will be there, and the same for Chase Elliott. … Larson and Reddick are two of the guys that are really outstanding in Darlington, so you might think it’s up to them. I don’t really see Chase getting past those two to the point where he does.
Reddick has a 17-point lead over Larson and an 18-point lead over Elliott. He took the lead when he won the Michigan Cup Series race last week. Reddick has had a great run, finishing in the top 5 in seven of his last 12 races.
