Kyle Busch is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential drivers in NASCAR history. Among his admirers is Kyle Larson, who has never hidden his respect for Busch’s talent. In 2017, while still establishing himself in the sport, Larson described Busch as the most all-around talented driver he would ever witness. At the time, Busch’s dominance was undeniable. The two-time Cup Series champion holds the record for the most combined wins across NASCAR’s three national series—with 63 Cup wins, 102 Xfinity wins, and 66 Truck Series victories. His aggressive style and relentless drive to win have made him a standout in the sport.
Although Busch’s recent performances have declined, his legacy remains unmatched. Meanwhile, Larson has risen to the top tier of NASCAR. The 2021 Cup Series champion has been exceptional in recent years, winning six races in 2024—more than any other driver. Despite these impressive stats, he fell short of claiming the title. As the 2025 NASCAR season progresses, Larson is aiming to achieve milestones that would place him alongside legends like Busch.

Larson’s next goal is an ambitious one—attempting to win all three national series races during a single weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, a feat only Busch has accomplished, and he did it twice at Bristol. With NASCAR now allowing Cup drivers five starts in lower series, Larson will drive for Spire Motorsports in the Truck Series, compete in the Xfinity Series for Hendrick Motorsports, and return to his No. 5 Chevrolet for the Cup race. Homestead has been one of Larson’s best tracks—he has led a record 626 laps there in the Cup Series—but despite his speed, he only has one win each in the Cup and Xfinity Series at the venue. After a missed opportunity last year due to a late-race spin while challenging Ryan Blaney, Larson is determined to rewrite his story.
Success at Homestead is just one part of Larson’s larger ambitions. After a weather-related failure during his 2024 “Double” attempt, where he planned to race both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600, he is preparing for another try later this year. Even Kyle Busch has acknowledged Larson’s talent, recently naming him and William Byron as the best drivers in the current NASCAR field. With his skills and Rick Hendrick’s support, Larson is pushing himself to reach new heights and match some of the sport’s most remarkable accomplishments.
