Kyle Busch’s Roadblock: Winless Streak Pushes NASCAR Legend to the Edge

Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch has reflected on the emotional toll of going an entire NASCAR Cup Series season without a victory—marking the first time in 19 years he has faced such a drought.

In a candid conversation with NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick on the Happy Hour podcast, Busch admitted that the winless stretch in 2024 has been especially tough, not only for himself but also for his son, Brexton. His last Cup Series win came in 2023, and the ongoing struggle to return to Victory Lane has weighed heavily on him.

“It’s tough,” Busch shared. “Last year was really hard—my first full Cup season without a win. That was a huge challenge.”

What makes it even more difficult, Busch explained, is seeing the situation through his son’s eyes. He recounted how Brexton notices other young fans, like Owen Larson, celebrating with their winning fathers, such as Kyle Larson.

“When we were winning multiple races a year between 2015 and 2019, Brexton was too young to fully appreciate it,” Busch said. “Now that he’s older and wants to be part of those celebrations, the wins just haven’t been coming as often.”

Busch admitted that his son’s disappointment impacts him more than his own struggles on the track. However, he remains focused on working with his team at RCR to fight for success.

“It’s tough, but you keep pushing forward,” Busch said. “We’re working hard to get back to Victory Lane.”

In his most recent race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Busch struggled at the back of the pack and ultimately finished in 21st place.
