Kyle Busch Sends a Caution to Christopher Bell as His Winning Streak Faces Pressure
Kyle Busch is keeping a close eye on Christopher Bell’s impressive run. As the 2025 NASCAR season hits full swing, Bell has stolen the spotlight by winning three consecutive Cup Series races—something no driver has achieved since Kyle Larson in 2021. During a media session at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Busch warned that Bell’s early-season dominance might bring unwanted attention from NASCAR officials. “You don’t want to start hot and then have NASCAR looking over you with a microscope,” Busch said. He explained that increased scrutiny could lead to technical inspection issues, which might disrupt a team’s rhythm later in the season.
Busch’s warning comes on the heels of NASCAR already targeting Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). After Bell’s teammate Chase Briscoe secured the pole position at the Daytona 500, an inspection revealed a faulty spoiler. This led to an L2 penalty, costing JGR 100 points and a $100,000 fine—although the penalty was later overturned due to a supplier error.
Despite the risks, Bell’s recent success is remarkable. He won on three different track types—Atlanta’s superspeedway, COTA’s road course, and Phoenix’s short oval—demonstrating versatility in the Next-Gen car. Meanwhile, Busch remained competitive at these same tracks, finishing inside the top 10 each time.
Busch remains optimistic about his chances to break his 61-race winless streak. He emphasized the importance of learning from each race, saying, “Each week’s different… as we continue to add to that sample size, you’ll really start to see where you stack up.”
While Busch is working to catch up, Bell draws inspiration from NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson, who has been sending him encouraging messages after each win. If Bell secures a fourth consecutive victory in Las Vegas, he will join an elite group of drivers who have accomplished this rare feat since 1972.
