NASCAR star Kyle Busch has revealed plans to step away from the Cup Series in 2025, opting to compete in the Truck Series once again. The announcement comes shortly after his heartbreaking finish at the Daytona 500, where Busch was in the hunt for his first-ever victory in the prestigious race before being taken out in a late-race wreck. Had he secured the win, it would have marked the two-time Cup Series champion’s first triumph in the “Great American Race.”
Just days after the Daytona disappointment, Busch confirmed his return to the Truck Series, announcing a five-race campaign with Spire Motorsports in 2025. Last season, Busch found success with the team, claiming two victories at Atlanta and Texas, further cementing his status as the most successful driver in Truck Series history.
In an official statement, Busch expressed his excitement about the upcoming schedule and his connection with Spire Motorsports. “With my long-standing relationship with Jeff (Dickerson) and many of my former employees still involved with Spire’s CRAFTSMAN Truck Series teams, it’s great to jump back into their Chevy Silverados for five races and aim to fill up those trophy cases,” Busch shared.
Beyond racing, Busch emphasized his role as a mentor to younger drivers within the Spire lineup. “I really enjoy being part of the process—evaluating equipment and helping the next generation of drivers. It’s rewarding to pass on knowledge and speed up their learning curve,” he added.
For the 2025 season, Busch’s schedule includes a mix of familiar tracks and new challenges. He plans to compete at tracks where he has previously found success, such as Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville, while also taking on two circuits he has never raced in a truck before—North Wilkesboro and Watkins Glen. Busch is eager to potentially add victories at these new venues to his already impressive Truck Series resume.
As the most decorated driver in Truck Series history, Busch’s return is set to be a major storyline in 2025, with fans eager to see if he can continue his dominance and mentor the next wave of NASCAR talent.
