NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has shared his thoughts on Kasey Kahne’s return to the Xfinity Series, expressing his excitement on social media with a simple “Badass” response. Kahne is set to make a notable comeback, racing at the iconic Rockingham Speedway, a venue that holds significance in his career.
Though Kahne never captured a Cup Series championship, he remains a beloved figure in the sport, boasting 18 Cup Series wins. His career also includes victories in both the Xfinity and Truck Series. Kahne began his journey through the USAC and NASCAR Truck Series, eventually reaching the Cup Series, where he raced for major teams like Hendrick Motorsports and Robert Yates Racing.
Throughout his career, Kahne earned a dedicated fan base with impressive wins at prestigious tracks like Daytona and Atlanta. Despite never clinching a Cup championship, his on-track performances solidified his place as one of the sport’s respected drivers. His partnership with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Hendrick Motorsports also forged a lasting friendship between the two, adding a personal touch to Kahne’s career.
Following his retirement, Kahne remained involved in the racing world, especially through dirt racing. He is also a key figure in the High Limit Racing Series, an initiative founded by fellow NASCAR driver Kyle Larson. Regarding his upcoming NASCAR return with Richard Childress Racing (RCR), Kahne expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of a stock car, especially at a place like Rockingham Speedway.” He added that the track holds special memories, including his victory in the 2012 Truck Series race, which marked NASCAR’s return to the venue.
Kahne also expressed gratitude for the opportunity, thanking people like Mr. Hendrick, Richard Childress, and the RCR team, as well as sponsors such as HendrickCars.com, Chevrolet, Curb Records, and Karavan Trailers. The anticipation for his return is palpable, especially with Richard Childress Racing’s reputation for excellence in the Xfinity Series. Childress himself praised Kahne’s competitive spirit and expressed confidence that the No. 33 car, with Kahne behind the wheel, will be a strong contender at Rockingham.
