“We prefer not to discuss rumors since that’s all they are,” Gordon said. “But we have a lot of confidence in Alex Bowman, Blake Harris, and the entire No. 48 team. We’re as eager as anyone to see them advance in the playoffs and compete for a championship. We believe in them.”
Gordon acknowledged that performance issues can lead to rumors, particularly at a high-standard organization like Hendrick Motorsports, but expressed optimism about the team’s future.
While Gordon didn’t clarify Bowman’s situation, it’s uncertain if the driver of the No. 48 car might be under pressure over the next 10 races. Bowman could potentially make a significant playoff run if the team finds the necessary speed, but if not, the speculation could increase in the weeks ahead.

“That rumor has definitely been irritating,” Bowman said. “My contract goes until the end of 2026. According to my bosses, there are no plans for any changes. Rumors are just rumors. I hope they finalize their announcements soon so the speculation stops. As far as I know, I’ll be driving the No. 48 next year.”
