“Frankie Muniz Returns to Malcolm in the Middle While Racing Full-Throttle in NASCAR”

Frankie Muniz will continue racing full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2025 while also reprising his iconic role as the lead in Malcolm in the Middle. At 39, Muniz, who has been pursuing a career in NASCAR for several years, secured a full-time spot with Reaume Brothers Racing, driving the No. 33 truck.

Disney’s revival of Malcolm in the Middle, which reunites the original cast, won’t interfere with Muniz’s NASCAR commitments. Joining Muniz in the sequel series are Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, with the storyline now focusing on an adult Malcolm raising a daughter.

The reboot will feature four episodes, aiming to recapture the charm of the original, which ran for seven seasons and won seven Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The original series concluded in 2006.

“I’ve been waiting 18 years for this,” Muniz said about the revival. “It’s time to see where Malcolm and his family are today.”

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, expressed excitement for the reboot. “With Linwood Boomer and the creative team back, these episodes will deliver the laughs, pranks, and chaos fans loved—along with some surprises that remind us why this show is timeless,” she said.

Despite a tough season-ending crash in the Truck Series Championship 4 race in Phoenix, Arizona, Muniz remains optimistic about his NASCAR career. “There weren’t many races this year where I could say, ‘That was a great race or a great win.’ But I’ve proven I can compete with these guys, and I know I belong here,” he reflected.

Muniz is equally enthusiastic about his 2025 move to Reaume Brothers Racing. “I’m thrilled to join RBM full-time. My partnership with Ford has been a game changer, giving us access to their top-notch technical and engineering resources,” he said.
