Joey Logano wasn’t happy with how a push from Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Dillon prevented him from potentially earning his second Cup Series win of the season. When he entered the pit lane after the race, Logano expressed his anger by pushing the tires hard against the brakes. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were divided on how Logano chose to vent.
Joey Logano drives the No. 1 Ford Mustang. 22 Dark Horse for Team Penske. He is a two-time Cup Series champion and a 30-time Cup Series winner. Logano also has 30 Xfinity Series wins and two Truck Series wins. This year, he won the Cup race at Nashville Superspeedway in June and earned a playoff spot. After missing out on a win last Sunday and finishing 19th, Logano revved his engine as hard as he could as he crossed the busy road.
Many fans reacted to Joey Logano’s outburst, with one saying he should have been fined $50,000. “Well, it’s a $50,000 fine…” the fan said. Another fan said what Joey Logano did wasn’t acceptable, but also thought people shouldn’t be allowed to drive in a “hot pitta.”
“People, let alone women and children, should not be allowed to drive on a hot road. This is absolutely stupid.” What Lagano did is not acceptable, but it is also stupid that people are allowed to drive on a hot street,” said the fan.
Here are some other reactions to Joey Logano’s pit lane behavior: “No, but then again, why are there children in a hot pit road???” wrote a fan. “It is not acceptable, but the first families should not be in a hot road. “They need to stop this immediately and get the drivers back on track,” said another. “Fans 22. No, it’s not acceptable. I understand that it was spur of the moment, but this is $ 50,000 and a beat,” someone added. Joey Logano is currently 15th in the Cup Series standings with 557 points to his name.
He led a total of 230 laps this season in addition to four top 5s and seven top 10s in NASCAR, which speaks volumes for Joey Logano’s antics in the pits. It is probably true that many non-racing personnel should not be allowed in the pit lane, but Logano’s fatigue could put his life at risk. Fortunately, none of this happened. The video shows Logano slamming on the brakes inches away from a group of people near Austin Dillon’s cab, which included his wife and daughter Blaize.
When reporter Bob Pockrass asked if Joey Logano’s actions could result in a penalty, NASCAR vice president Elton Sawyer said:
“We don’t want to make a split second decision and make a mistake. So we want to make sure we go back and look at everything that happened in the last lap and after the race and see if we need to give penalties. »
Austin Dillon was not happy with Joey Logano. According to the Richard Childress Racing driver, Logano should have talked to the media or told them if he was so upset. “I get that you have to be angry and upset,” Dillon said during a recent episode of Kevin Harvick’s “Happy Hour” podcast (as reported by FOX). “But do it in an interview or tell me. You have to be careful in the pit lane with these things.” However, both drivers must now prepare for next week’s race at Michigan International Speedway.
