The NASCAR Xfinity Series has just wrapped up its regular season, with Cole Custer being crowned champion after the Bristol race. This marks Custer’s second regular-season title, despite a rocky start where he hit the wall and suffered a puncture early on, causing him to lose several positions. However, he showcased his skill in the final stages, leading 104 laps and securing his second win of the season.
Custer’s victory was partly due to the misfortune of JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier, who entered the race with a 43-point lead, poised to win the regular season title. Unfortunately, a series of setbacks led Allgaier to finish 30th, six laps down, and he ultimately lost to Custer by just three points. Fans were not only discussing who deserved the title but were also buzzing about a mishap during a pit stop that left a tool on the track.
Allgaier started strong, qualifying 4th and leading 52 laps in stage one. These points could have solidified his lead, but an incident with Austin Green damaged his car’s bumper, sending him to the pits and costing him valuable positions. Despite this, Allgaier fought his way back to the front, only to be involved in another wreck, this time with Sheldon Creed, which caused his car to spin and crash into the wall.
Visibly frustrated, Allgaier reflected on the race, stating, “What a frustrating night. We did all the right things, led the beginning of the race, really thought we had the best car … But when the No. 32 blew the right-front and ripped the rear bumper cover off, that changed the game for us.”
However, the moment that grabbed fans’ attention occurred after Allgaier’s pit stop, where a Sawzall was left under his car. As he returned to the track, the tool was dragged along, creating sparks before falling off. The scene amused fans and even led to questions about whether the tool still worked. Surprisingly, a post-race test revealed that the Dewalt Sawzall was still functional, sparking debates among fans about the best Sawzall brands.
While most fans usually don’t pay attention to the tools their favorite teams use, the Sawzall incident brought the spotlight onto the reciprocating saw, commonly used in NASCAR. The Dewalt Sawzall, used to cut off Allgaier’s hanging bumper, impressed fans with its durability. One fan joked, “If I’m Dewalt, this is the only commercial I run for the rest of the year,” while another praised the product’s strength, saying, “Dewalt”
Not all fans were convinced, though. Some preferred Milwaukee tools, with one fan commenting, “I’m sticking with Milwaukee.” Another was surprised that NASCAR teams still use older tools, writing, “How is a NASCAR team still using an 18-volt Dewalt?”
Though the incident could have been dangerous, it ended safely, and fans were left amused by the unexpected appearance of a power tool on the track. What are your thoughts on the situation? Let us know in the comments below!
