Denny Hamlin exposes major beef with FedEx, his former sponsor that walked away.

Denny Hamlin and FedEx had one of the longest-running sponsorship relationships in NASCAR, spanning 19 years. However, as the 2024 season came to an end, so did their partnership. While there was speculation about tension between Hamlin and FedEx, the primary reason for the split was the company’s financial strategy rather than a direct fallout between the two parties.

FedEx first partnered with Hamlin in 2005 when he made his NASCAR Cup Series debut with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). Over the years, the company played a key role in Hamlin’s career, backing him through multiple championship-contending seasons. However, signs of a shift became evident when FedEx began reducing its sponsorship commitment. By 2024, the company was sponsoring only 13 races, a significant drop from previous years when it was the full-time primary sponsor of the No. 11 car.

The decision to part ways was largely driven by FedEx’s financial situation. The company has been facing economic pressures and restructuring its business model. As part of cost-cutting efforts, it has reduced its investment in sports sponsorships, including its involvement in NASCAR.

Despite rumors of a “major beef” between Hamlin and FedEx, there is no concrete evidence of a personal conflict. Hamlin himself acknowledged the situation in a professional manner, expressing gratitude for the nearly two-decade-long relationship. In an interview, he said, “It’s such a great relationship… They have been a part of my racing career, the whole thing in Cup. Really happy to have been able to represent them.”

FedEx also issued a statement reflecting on their journey with Hamlin and JGR, thanking him for his contributions and dedication. While some fans speculated that Hamlin was upset over the sponsorship ending, he has not publicly criticized FedEx. Instead, he has remained focused on securing new sponsorships for his No. 11 car.

With FedEx leaving, Hamlin and JGR are now looking for new sponsors. Given his competitive performance and veteran status in the Cup Series, it’s likely that new partners will step in.

While the departure of FedEx marks the end of an iconic NASCAR sponsorship, it does not appear to be due to any “beef” between Hamlin and the company. Instead, it was a business decision made in response to changing financial priorities.
