Gayle’s recent work with Ty Gibbs has been remarkable. The duo won Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 and delivered consistent performances in 2024, including eight top-five finishes, 12 top-10s, and two pole awards. Despite being from Arkansas, a state with limited racing roots, Gayle’s passion for motorsports led him to North Carolina, where he pursued a career that flourished under JGR’s banner.
Meanwhile, Gabehart transitions to a new role as Joe Gibbs Racing’s competition director. He will oversee crew chiefs and engineers across the organization, including his successor, Gayle. Joe Gibbs emphasized the importance of this change, stating that Gabehart’s expertise would now benefit all four Cup teams.
Hamlin admitted he was shocked by the move, reflecting on the strong bond he shared with Gabehart. “The first few days were a shock, but I’m moving on,” Hamlin said. He expressed hope that the changes would ultimately improve the No. 11 team’s performance.
