“Chase Briscoe Exposes Christopher Bell’s Chili Bowl Comeback After JGR Move Spoiler”

The driver transfer market in NASCAR is often referred to as “the worst-kept secret,” and Christopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) inadvertently proved that reputation true. In a slip-up during an interview, Bell appeared to confirm Chase Briscoe as Martin Truex Jr.’s replacement at JGR, saying, “It could be whoever has a good race that week—so I don’t think that there really is a leadership role in that aspect and whenever Chase comes into the car.” This statement effectively let the news out prematurely.

Realizing his mistake, Bell quickly tried to backtrack, adding, “Whenever. I don’t know what to say… Whenever we have a new driver in the 19 car, whoever that is, their experience level will dictate how much input they have in the team.” Despite his effort to recover, the damage was done, and the incident turned into a humorous talking point within the NASCAR community, with drivers and personalities chiming in on the blunder.

Chase Briscoe, however, found a way to return the favor by revealing an update about Bell’s participation in the Chili Bowl Nationals.

Bell’s return to the Chili Bowl comes as a surprise, considering that since 2022, Joe Gibbs Racing had restricted its drivers from competing in non-NASCAR events. However, this policy was relaxed with the arrival of fellow dirt racer Chase Briscoe, allowing Bell to once again take part in off-season dirt racing.

Reflecting on the change, Bell, driver of the #20 Toyota Camry, shared with The Athletic, “I was super shocked, but with Chase coming on board and Ty growing an interest in dirt racing, it’s nice we have the majority of our team aligned with it now.” While the team had yet to confirm Bell’s dirt racing schedule, Briscoe seemed to let slip that the Chili Bowl would be one of his upcoming appearances.
