BREAKING: Former NASCAR driver, Danica Patrick calls for the immediate resignation of California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick has publicly called for the resignation of California Governor Gavin Newsom amid the devastating wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area. The fires have resulted in at least 10 fatalities, forced approximately 180,000 residents to evacuate, and destroyed over 10,000 properties.

Patrick, known for her outspoken nature, took to social media to express her frustration with the state’s handling of the crisis. On X (formerly Twitter), she questioned the state’s preparedness, stating:

> “California has 840 miles of coastline and 3,000 lakes and reservoirs. Why don’t they have enough water to fix any and all fires? At some point I have to imagine it’s getting difficult for hardcore cali lovers to accept the state of their state and how it’s managed.”

In a subsequent post, she directly addressed Governor Newsom, writing:

> “Time for Newscum to be the next to announce his resignation.”

Patrick’s use of “Newscum” mirrors the derogatory nickname coined by President-elect Donald Trump, who has also criticized Newsom’s management of California’s water resources. Trump accused the governor of prioritizing environmental concerns over human safety, particularly in relation to water management policies affecting firefighting efforts.

The wildfires, exacerbated by strong winds, low humidity, and ongoing drought conditions, have overwhelmed firefighting resources. Los Angeles Department of Water and Power CEO Janisse Quinones acknowledged the strain on the water system, stating, “We had a tremendous demand on our system… we pushed the system to the extreme.” Firefighters have reported challenges with water pressure, hindering their ability to combat the flames effectively.

Patrick’s public statements reflect a growing frustration among residents and public figures regarding the state’s disaster preparedness and resource management. As the wildfires continue to devastate communities, the calls for accountability and effective leadership are intensifying.

In these trying times, the focus remains on supporting affected communities and ensuring that necessary resources are allocated efficiently to prevent further loss and devastation.
