Austin Hill brags about breaking Dale Jr.’s superspeedway record in Xfinity Series

Austin Hill has cemented himself as the best superspeedway driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and his dominance was on full display at Atlanta Motor Speedway. On Saturday night, Hill put on a masterclass in controlling the field, leading a staggering 146 of the 163 laps in the Bennett Transportation & Logistics 250. His performance was so commanding that he not only secured his 11th career Xfinity Series victory but also shattered a record held by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Hill’s win at Atlanta was historic, as he passed Earnhardt Jr. for the most laps led on superspeedway tracks in Xfinity Series history. By the end of the night, Hill had accumulated 734 laps led at superspeedways, surpassing Earnhardt Jr.’s career total of 691. What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Hill has accomplished it in far fewer superspeedway races than Earnhardt Jr., proving just how dominant he has been on drafting tracks.

Beyond just surpassing Earnhardt Jr. in laps led, Hill also tied another major record. With his eighth victory on drafting tracks, he is now level with Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart for the most superspeedway wins in Xfinity Series history. That puts Hill in elite company, as both Earnhardt Jr. and Stewart are widely regarded as some of the best superspeedway racers in NASCAR history. Given that Hill is only 30 years old and still competing at a high level, there’s a strong possibility that he will soon stand alone at the top of this list.

Hill’s ability to control the race at Atlanta demonstrated his exceptional skill at superspeedway racing. He maintained track position, expertly executed restarts, and was able to fend off challenges from multiple drivers throughout the night. In a series where pack racing often leads to unpredictable outcomes, Hill has shown a remarkable ability to stay at the front and dictate the race’s flow. This level of control is what separates the great superspeedway racers from the rest, and Hill has now proven multiple times that he is among the best.

With the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season still in its early stages, Hill has plenty of opportunities to add to his record. More superspeedway races are on the schedule, including Talladega and Daytona, where he has already shown he can dominate. If he continues at this pace, there will be little doubt that Austin Hill is the greatest superspeedway driver the Xfinity Series has ever seen.
